Don’t worry the process here works and I too have gotten my fair share of going through the process and here is how I did mine.
To add favicon when you are using an external template, please do not copy or add the html code when you generate your favicon, you should save it in you device.
Then extract the file and move the best quality image.
Then do as follow with the quality image you have moved;
